The ANSO-MTA Silk Road Forum and the 3rd ATES Open Science Conference is held in Budapest between 9–10 September 2025, organised by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO) and the Association for Trans-Eurasia Exchange and Silk-Road Civilization Development (ATES), in cooperation with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) and the ELTE Research Centre for the Humanities.

The aim of the event is to foster dialogue among the countries along the Silk Road and among representatives of the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities, by providing a platform for sharing the latest interdisciplinary research findings related to this trade route with a rich history.

The conference presentations address a wide range of topics, including early human dispersal, agricultural and pastoral development, the rise and decline of trade routes, technological advancements and exchanges, the evolution of civilizations, and environmental changes.

On 9th September, Anna Szécsényi-Nagy, Director of the Institute of Archaeogenomics served as one of the chairs of the session titled "Human Migration and the Silk Road Transport Network". In one of the keynote presentations of the session, Yusuf Can Özdemir, Assistant Research Fellow at our institute, presented findings – published this May – on millennia-long genetic continuity among populations living on the Iranian Plateau.
