Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Opportunity
Within the framework of the Momentum MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme the "Lendület" Momentum Bioarchaeology Research Group is currently accepting applications from postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, who would like to work on a Roman period bioarchaeology project for 1–3 years in Budapest, between 2026 and 2028.
This new joint initiative launched through the collaboration of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the European Research Council offers competitive salaries. Postdocs joining the Momentum Bioarchaeology Program will have the chance to explore various aspects of the project, including:
- Stable isotopes
- Human DNA
- Anthropology
- Animal DNA
- Metagenomics
- Archaeology
If you hold a PhD, are based outside Hungary, and are interested in joining our research for 1–3 years, we would love to hear from you!
To apply, a project plan needs to be formulated during April and May, 2025. The topic should align with our Roman Bioarchaeology Program but also introduce a novel research angle.

Call for prospective PhD students
The HUN-REN RCH Institute of Archaeogenomics is currently accepting applications from prospective PhD students in connection with archaeogenomics and bioinformatics research. A detailed description of the current, open doctoral topics can be found here or on the website of the Hungarian Doctoral Council.
The institute will provide an income supplement to successful applicants, in addition to their student scholarships.
