Three researchers from the Institute of Archaeogenomics, Anna Szécsényi-Nagy, Balázs Mende, and Balázs Gyuris, participated in the ERC Histogenes Plenary Meeting 2023 conference held between 9-12th of October. The event featured the latest results of collaborative research groups in the field of the early Middle Ages. Balázs Gyuris, representing our institute, presented the most recent genetic findings from the Kölked Feketekapu site.
The event was not limited to the presentation of results but also provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions. Beyond the presentations, specialized meetings analyzed the progress of the project, and researchers jointly defined further research directions and objectives. Participants from various countries attended the conference, including the United States, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary.
In addition to the results achieved during the project, the opportunity for live meetings was of paramount importance to the research team. It allowed for personal communication, essential for the efficiency of scientific collaboration, following the successful Budapest conference last year. Thus, the Histogenes Plenary Meeting 2023 was not only about presenting results but also served as a platform for the cohesion of the scientific community and the strengthening of collaboration.
