This year, among the nominees from Hungary, Dániel Gerber, a research fellow at our institute, received the Danubius Young Scientist Award, an honor granted by the Vienna-based Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM) and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research.
The award is presented annually to one young researcher from each of the 14 countries involved in the Danube Region Strategy of the European Union, recognizing outstanding work that has a significant impact on the region. The international expert jury selected the awardees based on the excellence and innovative approach of their scientific work, the cross-border regional relevance of their research topics, and the promising professional activities of the nominees.
At the award ceremony held on 13 November 2025 at the University of Tuzla (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Dániel Gerber, in his acceptance speech, briefly presented his current research on ancient human populations and contemporary horses in the Carpathian Basin.
