Anna Szécsényi‑Nagy will give a lecture on the morning of May 19, organized by the HEAS (Human Evolution and Archaeological Sciences) Research Network at the University of Vienna.

Her talk, titled “Genomic signs of community organization and social change in the Early Copper Age Eastern Carpathian Basin,” reports on genetic findings linked to Zsuzsanna Siklósi’s MTA‑ELTE Momentum Innovation Research Group program.

The international team conducted comprehensive analyses of populations living on the Great Hungarian Plain during the Late Neolithic and Early Copper Age, drawing on 125 newly sequenced human genomes produced by laboratories at Harvard Medical School and the University of Vienna. From the archaeological side, significant contributions were provided by the archaeologists of the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at ELTE Eötvös Loránd University and the Satu Mare County Museum in Romania.

This lecture will be offered in a hybrid format, with in‑person attendance and a live online stream. The monthly, English‑language HEAS Seminar Series, each session on a different theme, is also available to follow on YouTube, with Anna's presentation here.
